Meet Colette

Hello, I’m Colette Kavanaugh, owner of Colibrí Electrology and a California-licensed electrologist and esthetician.

Like many of my clients, I have personally experienced electrolysis treatment. Over the years, I have visited several electrologists myself and learned firsthand what makes a positive treatment experience—and what doesn’t.

Because I’ve been in your shoes, I understand the importance of feeling comfortable, respected, informed, and confident in your electrologist. I know what treatment feels like, what to expect afterward, and how meaningful permanent results can be.

My goal is to provide the kind of experience I would want as a client: professional, attentive, effective, and welcoming.

The car is in front of a painted mural of a countryside scene with rolling hills, power lines, and a blue sky with clouds. Two people are sitting in the car, one man and one woman, smiling and looking at the camera.

Education & Experience

Before becoming an electrologist, I spent more than fifteen years working in the beauty industry as a makeup artist and licensed esthetician. My work has included weddings, film, theater, quinceañeras, and special events.

I am a graduate of the Monterey Bay Institute of Electrology and Paul Mitchell The School Sacramento.

In October 2022, I was appointed by the Governor of California to serve on the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology, where I served until December 2025. This experience strengthened my commitment to professional standards, public safety, and continuing education.

Today, I remain active in the profession as a member of the American Electrology Association and the Electrologist Association of California and stay current with advancements in electrology and the beauty industry.

Beyond the Treatment Room

When I’m not working with clients, you’ll often find me performing in living history events, writing music, exploring local history and folklore, attending concerts, reading, creating art, or caring for my beloved collection of animals.

I am also the author of “Arden-Arcade,” a pictorial history book published by Arcadia Publishing in 2023. My upcoming book, “Sacramento County Cemeteries,” is scheduled for release in August 2026.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your permanent hair removal goals.
